WEEK 1

MODULE 1: EQUINE PHYSIOLOGY>PG 4

THE EYES

Another aspect of the horses' eyes to look for is when they show the whites of their eyes.  This is an extremely alerted horse.  This horse is ready to flip out mentally.  You should never put a horse in a situation that causes such anxiety.

Even when competing at big events or using horses in hyped or hard settings, a horse should be prepared for this slowly, over time, with patience and respect for their feelings, without over-burdening them or stressing them out.

Riders / handlers must understand these basics of equine eye physiology before they embark on their journeys with these delicately intricate and unique animals to avoid related pitfalls.

Horse's eyes are very expressive and changeable and show us how a horse is feeling.
