RBEI MASTER COURSES: EQUINE MANAGEMENT:
FIRST AID & MEDICAL CARE 2
When it comes to First Aid and Medical Care with horses there are so many theories and products on the market, however not all provide the desired effect. Sadly vets tend to take advantage of the widespread ignorance associated with equine first aid and medical care and people are losing thousands of dollars where problems could have been dealt with by horse owners themselves immediately at practically zero cost.
A horse owner should have a good base set of skills, medical knowledge and resources which we can provide you with here on this course, before the need to include vets or other specialists.
No amount of wrapping horses up in cotton wool will avoid the need for this.
4 PRODUCTS YOU SHOULD ALWAYS STOCK:
To start with, below is 4 primary products a horse owner should always stock.
The most effective antiseptic and fly repelling spray available. This is for use on significant cuts. Always use the aerosol spray rather than the pump bottle. The pump bottle solution is too wet and watered down and has no where near the same effect as the aerosol can.
2). WHITE HEALER
This cream is the most effective antiseptic cream on the market for minor cuts, skin conditions and abrasions. It promotes very fast healing and hair regrowth and is also very effective where horses have qld / sweet itch skin abrasions, to get the hair regrowing and to soothe the skin fast enough to avoid things escalating.
3). IODINE SOLUTION
This antibacterial and antiseptic solution is super effective for use inside hooves for the treatment of all sorts of hoof ailments such as punctures, broken through abscesses, general hoof soreness and bacterial issues.
4). STOCKHOLM TAR
Horses will often hurt hooves in their day to day living generally. Forget all other hoof care regimes. There is none better than Stockholm Tar for daily hoof health, protection and preventative care.
