THE HORSES UNIQUE EYES

The horses eyes are very unique to horses also.  Horses eyes are one of the most telling when it comes to how your horse is feeling that moment.  The colour of the horses eyes change to reflect their current emotional state.  If they are fearful or angry their eyes go dark and black.  When relaxed and happy their eyes go a light brown and a thin milky blue line around the eye ball can be seen.

A horse that has black eyes needs to be reassured and soothed.  Never ride a horse with black eyes and always check before riding.

A good way to see the thin blue line is to go to your horse and pat him and talk to him gently, soothe and give him cuddles etc.  Then watch his eyes lighten and the blue line appear.

An additional extreme and next level beyond the eyes going black is the horse showing the actual whites of his eyes, much like an angered bull would.  This horse is extremely scared and upset / angry and needs immediate soothing.
